Godot 4 Multiplayer: Make Your Own Online Game
Why did I take the course?
Multiplayer games have always been an interest of mine. I find my ideas to circle more around the idea of simpler multiplayer game where the repeat enjoyment is the matches rather than developing a larger story. However, I never wrote one in earnest. I've dabbled with the multiplayer systems in Unity, however now that I'm shifting my focus away from Unity to Godot, I wanted to see what the Godot ecosystem had to offer in terms of multiplayer capabilities
How did I feel about it?
When I completed this course, I feel as thought I have a good understanding of how to create a peer to peer game. However I am not that confident that I would know how to set it up with an external service such as Steam or private servers. These are areas that I wish the course would have touched on. There was a section about how to get these peer to peer games working with W4Games. Unfortunately, over the past year since the course's release, W4Games has changed its strategy. You can no longer create a free account and get started.
Future Actions
I would love to implement multiplayer features into a future project, and I will have to learn how external services implement their connections.
