Needle Drop

In October 2025, I purchased my partner a record player. It was always something we talked about purchasing once we moved in together so it seemed like a perfect birthday gift.

Little did we know, it would spawn a very passionate hobby for both of us. We quickly wanted to catalog the records that we owned, and being stat driven, we wanted to keep track of how many times we played them, how much we spent on them, where we got them from and several other aspects.

This led to a Google Sheet, but being a developer, I wanted a better database to keep track of this information. Too many projects fall into the trap of using Excel/Google Sheets as a medium to keep track of things.

That led to me creating a supabase instance. But those aren't typically user friendly. Especially not when you're at a store trying to see if you've found a hidden gem your partner is looking for.

That's where the Needle Drop comes in. It also has an accompanying Discord Bot, named the VinylBot
